Songs of Manyselves
A family mythography
and reclaiming
The family has a hole inside of it.
The mountain that the family lives on has a hole inside of it.
Manyselves, a mutivoiced self expression, unpacks the imprints of family identities and half-told stories to understand their own sense of themselves and their relation to the hole. Is the hole an absence? Does the absence have a beginning? As they ask questions, they tunnel back through generations, unpacking the meaning of belonging and confronting family legacy. Woven throughout this personal journey is the beauty of the Canadian Rockies and the creation story of the mountains themselves. How does the hole in Manyselves relate to the hole inside of the mountain?
